Abstract: One of the many interesting ideas which has been imported into Dynamical Systems from Statistical Mechanics is that of Gibbs measures. These are families of measures which typically behave well in terms of the dynamics. Since they originated in Statistical Mechanics there is a natural parameter called the "inverse temperature" 1/T and it is natural to consider the limiting behaviour of the measures as the "temperature" tends to zero (i.e., the cold climate). In some cases the limit was described by a result of Bremont in 2003. We will describe a new elementary proof. This is joint work with Oliver Jenkinson (started in 2007 and finished in October 2026)
